Chopin & Chopin Concert I with Jae-Yeon Won
This is the fourth and final installment of our mini-concert series from The Passionate Keyboard, a five-day event for young pianists held at the Sejong Centre in Seoul last October. This week’s concert features Jae-Yeon Won playing Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 Op. 11.

Jae-Yeon Won
Having dominated Korean competitions with 1st places at the Ewha and Kyunghyang Concours and the Dong-A Music Competition, Jae-Yeon Won announced himself to the world with a win in 2014 at the 28th Ferrol International Piano Competition in Spain, a win at the 2016 Karlrobert Kreiten Piano Competition, and in 2017 2nd place plus the Audience Prize at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition. Of note, the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition is world-renowned, having fostered piano greats such as Martha Argerich and Alfredo Brandel, among others.
Won graduated from Sunwha Arts Middle and High School before studying under Choong-Mo Kang at the Korea National University of Arts. He also studied under Claudio Martínez Mehner at The Cologne University of Music in Germany. Won is currently preparing for greater international exposure, having released his first recording Bach to Bartók through German label Acousence Classic earlier this year.
