Bio - Sung Kyu Choi

Sung Kyu Choi is originally from South Korea, and he chose Kyu Choi as his professional name. He graduated from the Korea National University of Arts before moving to London in 2016 and entering the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) where he is currently studying for his Master’s degree under Mark Wildman and Iain Ledingham.

Operatic roles include Don Giovanni in Don Giovanni conducted by Carlo Palleschi, Belcore in L’elisir d’Amore, Malatesta in Don Pasquale and Frank in Die Fledermaus conducted by Paul Weigold. He has performed various art songs as a soloist at venues including Wigmore Hall and the Recital Hall in the Seoul Arts Centre. His works are Liederkreis op.39, Dichterliebe op.48, Kerner op.35 by R.Schumann and Songs of Travel by R.V.Williams. He has had professional experience at Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, Salzburg and Vienna.

Choi is generously supported by the San Martino Scholarship and the Josephine Baker Trust Award.
