For your cooking inspiration, the Korean Cultural Centre is collaborating with Taste of Seoul on an online Korean cuisine class. We will introduce Korean Temple Food with the venerable Jeong Kwan, who has appeared on Netflix’ Chef’s Table Season 3. Focusing on soy sauce, one of the fermented ingredients in Korean cuisine, venerable Jeong Kwan will demonstrate vegan dishes you can easily try at home.

The venerable Jeong Kwan is a Buddhist nun, selected as one of the Plant-forward Global 50 by Eat Forum and Culinary Institute of America, and known as ‘The Philosopher Chef’ by the New York Times. She has made influential insights into the field of Buddhist temple cooking methods focused on the future of sustainable eating practices.

During the class, the venerable Jeong Kwan will introduce Korean temple food, using tofu and soy sauce. The event also features a demonstration of making tofu-jangajji, pickled tofu in soy sauce which goes well with salads.

The successful applicants will receive access to the class and also Korean ingredients, which are soy sauce, grain syrup, perilla oil and roasted sesame with a souvenir from Korea for cooking along. Please note that you will need to provide us with a full postal address once you have received your confirmation e-mail. We cannot accommodate participants outside the UK.
