Social Media Contest 2020
Information
- It is the Entrant’s responsibility to have read the KCCUK Social Media Contest (the "Contest") Terms and Conditions prior to submitting your entry into the Contest, and entry into the Contest is treated as acceptance of these KCCUK Social Media Contest Terms and Conditions.
- Any forms of media entered into the Contest must be submitted via our own online form
- All enquiries from Entrants regarding the Contest or the Terms and Conditions must be made to info@kccuk.org.uk.
- The closing date of the Contest will be Sunday 20 December 2020 17:00 (GMT).
- The Entrant agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry.
Conditions of Entry
- Entry is open not only to current staff and students of the University of Greenwich ("School") but also the wider community, including Honorary, Affiliate and Associate members of the School (except individuals involved in the administration or judging of the competition, their employees or families).
- Collaborative submissions are allowed. You must name all individuals involved in producing the entry.
- Entries are limited to one per person/group and each submission should be accompanied by a title and a short description (maximum 100 words) explaining the context of the image
- Each Entry must be received by the deadline
- The Entrant acknowledges that entering the Contest does not grant the Entrant any intellectual property rights in or over KCCUK or the Contest itself.
- The Entrant agrees not to use any third-party intellectual property when entering the Contest.
Entrance Fee and Content Submission
- No fee will be collected from Entrants in order to participate to the Contest, as the Contest is free of charge.
- You may only submit your work once, irrespective of applying individually or as a group.
- Each submission must be accompanied by a title and a short description.
- The formats for the submission must be suitable for social media channels - Instagram, Facebook or YouTube - and are followed: JPG, JPEG, PNG or MP4.
Image Rights
- All entries must be original works of the Entrant and, therefore, the Entrant must be the sole and exclusive owner of the content, which must not infringe on the copyright of any third party.
- The Entrant accepts that the content can be published and used for promotional purposes in the context of KCCUK cultural activities, such as, but not limited to, social media posts and website uploads.
- The winner agrees to the use in any publicity material of his/her username and link to the social media profile used to enter the Contest.
The Judging Process
- Winning entries will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by the University of Greenwich, whose decision cannot be appealed.
- Three winners will be selected in total: one first place award, one second place award and one third place award.
- The prizes consist of a £300 worth of gifts to be awarded to the first place winner, and a £100 worth of gifts to the second winner and £50 to the third placed winner.
- The prize is not transferable ad there is no cash alternative.
- The winners will be notified via KCCUK Website, social media channels. Winners must claim the prize within two weeks from the date of publication. Winners will also be notified via email, and will be provided with further information on how to collect the prize.
- If a prize remains unclaimed after 2 weeks of the notifications being sent, then the prize will be forfeit.
Ethical Requirements
- The submitted content must be ethically obtained and not have been the cause of harm to any person, personal property, animal or habitat.
- Failure to meet the required ethical standard will result in disqualification in accordance with section 8 of these Terms and Conditions.
Disqualification
- The KCCUK has the right to disqualify any entry at its sole discretion in accordance to these Terms and Conditions and the decision cannot be appealed.
- No compensation or prize will be offered for any disqualified entry.
- The KCCUK reserves the right to cancel the Contest if circumstances arise outside of its control.
- Failure to comply with any of these terms will result in forfeiting the prize
Data Protection
- Any personal data relating to the winners or any other Entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
- This competition is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by the social media platforms on which it is hosted. The information provided will be used in accordance with the relevant social media privacy policies.
