“Shim Chung” is a ballet play based on the Korean folktale about a daughter whose name is in the title. She throws herself into the sea in the hope of restoring her blind father's sight. By the grace of Jade Emperor, she is sent back to the world from a lotus flower and reunites with her father.

Debuted in 1986, “Shim Chung” is considered one of the Universal Ballet Company's best works in its repertoire. The neoclassical choreography is the work of the company’s first artistic director, Adrienne Dellas. The production continues to refine through revisions of the choreography, staging and costumes.

Join us for a special screening this Autumn at the Korean Cultural Centre UK.
