Kicking off the K-Music Festival is ‘Squid Game and Parasite in Concert’ featuring award winning composer Jung Jaeil who is responsible for some of South Korea's most popular film scores and has worked on titles such as Bong Joon Ho's Okja and Parasite, the groundbreaking foreign-language film that made history by winning the Academy Award for Best Picture, the most-watched Netflix TV series Squid Game, and Hirokazu's Broker.
Joined by the London Symphony Orchestra, Jae-il will showcase iconic orchestral compositions from beloved Korean films including Squid Game, Parasite, Broker, and Okja. Moreover, he will showcase his latest album, ‘Listen’, treating the audience to a breathtaking fusion of his brand-new compositions. As a special treat, he will also unveil a sneak peek of his upcoming album, set to be released this autumn under the prestigious Universal Decca Records label.

Jung Jaeil
Renowned for his versatility, singer-songwriter, composer, and music producer Jung Jae-il has garnered numerous prestigious music awards throughout his career. His remarkable compositions for the critically acclaimed film Parasite were honoured with Best Music at the 2020 Grand Bell Awards, solidifying his status as a musical genius. Furthermore, his contributions were recognized on the international stage, as “Soju One Glass” from the Parasite soundtrack received a nomination for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards.
In 2022, Jae-il's exceptional talent earned him a well-deserved nomination for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music at the 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards for his remarkable work on the groundbreaking series, Squid Game. The series itself also achieved recognition, with the electrifying Squid Game soundtrack capturing the prestigious Best Original Score for a TV Show or Limited Series award at the 2021 Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
Continuing his musical journey, Jung Jae-il has recently released his latest album, titled Listen, under the esteemed global label, Decca Records, in 2023. This intimate piano-based album seamlessly incorporates warm cinematic strings, creating a captivating musical tapestry. Inspired by the themes of nature, humanity, and the significance of attentive listening to both the planet and each other, the album showcases Jae-il's exceptional talent for crafting evocative and poignant compositions. Scheduled for an autumn release this year, his upcoming album will be premiered at the highly anticipated opening show of the K-Music Festival.
