l City of London Festival Line-up of South Korea’s leading artists – Myung-Whun Chung, Yeol-Eum Son and Sun-Wook Kim

l South Korea’s top classical musicians visit the City of London to present memorable moments for a month

The City of London Festival announced that a large group of Korea’s outstanding artists will perform in the fifty-second City of London Festival(COLF), which will take place from June 22 to July 17. Many of the artists are appearing with the support of Arts Council Korea, Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation, Korea Tourism Organization and Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture.

The main theme of the festival is ‘Seoul in the City’. The theme is divided into three categories: K-Classic, K-Theatre and Dynamic Korea. The Korean artists will showcase classical music concerts, plays, contemporary dance, fusion-style Korean traditional music and B-boy dance.

In K-Classic, a world-class maestro, Myung-Whun Chung will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 with the London Symphony Orchestra. Korea’s leading musicians, including soprano Kathleen Kim, mezzo soprano Songmi Yang, tenor Yosep Kang and bass Jongmin Park, will fill London’s nights with splendid melodies in the world famous venue of St Paul’s Cathedral.

Glamorous performances of promising K-Classic artists include the young virtuoso pianist, Yeol-Eum Son’s recital, the homegrown genius pianist, Sun-Wook Kim’s, Kumho Asiana Soloists – violinist Je-Hye Lee, violist Hanna Lee, cellist Jung-Ran Lee, pianist Da-Sol Kim and clarinetist Han Kim – and ‘The Gift’ concert with Korea’s young talented artists, violinist Soo-Been Lee and cellist Ha-Young Choi.

In K-Theatre, in celebration of Shakespeare’s 450th birthday, Yohangza Theater Company will present a Korean version of Hamlet. ‘Anderson’s Gazes’ produced by Lee Kyung-Ok Dance Company, Ensemble SINAWI, a fusion music group will be showcased.

In Dynamic Korea, Seoul Metropolitan representative B-boy team, Gamblerz Crew will offer energetic and fabulous dance performance. The team has won more than thirty competitions, including two-time winning of Germany Battle of the Year, one of the top five B-boy competitions in the world.
