As part of the exhibition Soundwaves of Science: Exploring the Science of Korean Music, the Korean Cultural Centre UK is pleased to present a special K-Seminar on Monday 19 May at 6:30 PM, led by Dr Haekyung Um, Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool.

The talk will explore the intersection of tradition and innovation in Korean music—from King Sejong’s efforts to standardise musical pitch to the scientific principles behind traditional instruments and the rise of AI-generated music. Dr Um will offer fresh insights into how science shapes the way we hear and understand Korea’s musical heritage.

Following the talk, there will be a 20-minute guided exhibition tour led by a KCCUK curator, offering visitors a chance to experience the exhibition more deeply through curated commentary and interactive displays.

Join us for an evening where sound meets science, and tradition meets technology.
