Author Silvia Park in Conversation with Ela Lee
Event Details
📅 Date and Time: Thursday, April 17, 12:30 – 2:00 PM
📍 Where: Online Event (LIVE at the Korean Cultural Centre UK)
To celebrate the release of LUMINOUS, the Korean Cultural Centre UK will host an online conversation between author Silvia Park and writer Ela Lee.
Silvia Park is a Seoul-born writer whose acclaimed short fiction has appeared in Tor.com and Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy. LUMINOUS is their debut novel and is currently being adapted for television.
Set in a future reunified Korea, LUMINOUS blends science fiction with elements of a detective novel, imagining a world where humans coexist with AI—robots who serve as companions, workers, even lovers, but never as equals. In this conversation, Silvia will explore the novel’s central themes: the emotional and ethical complexities of human-AI relationships, the imagined realities of a unified Korea, and the ways memory and history shape diasporic identity and the future.
Joining Silvia in conversation is British-Korean-Turkish writer Ela Lee, whose debut novel JADED explores themes of consent, race, and identity. A former City lawyer, she is currently based in London.
Bringing together two bold new voices in contemporary fiction, this event promises a compelling discussion on literature, technology, and the shifting boundaries of identity.
