The Korean Cultural Centre UK presents an evening with Jiyoung Han, celebrating her debut novel Honey in the Wound.

Jiyoung Han was born in Seoul and raised in the American Midwest, and now lives in San Francisco. Honey in the Wound is her debut novel.

A lyrical and suspenseful work, Honey in the Wound follows a Korean family across decades of displacement during a turbulent period in Korean history. Blending history with elements of the supernatural, the novel explores themes of survival, memory, and the reclamation of power.

Han will be joined by writer and academic SJ Kim, author of This Part Is Silent, for a conversation on the inspirations behind the novel, her creative process, and the historical and emotional contexts that shape her work. The discussion will also consider how storytelling engages with histories of violence, and how narrative can reclaim voice and agency across generations.
