Jihyun Yun is a Korean American writer and the author of the poetry collection Some Are Always Hungry. Her debut novel has been shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.

Blending Gothic horror, mystery, and Korean folklore, And the River Drags Her Down is a haunting exploration of sisterhood, grief, and revenge. Set against the backdrop of a small coastal town, the novel follows a young girl who uses ancestral magic to bring her sister back from the dead, with unforeseen consequences.

Yun will be joined by Melinda Salisbury, bestselling author of Her Dark Wings, for a conversation on storytelling through genre fiction, the role of mythology in contemporary literature, and the inspirations behind her writing. The discussion will also consider how traditional narratives and folklore can be reimagined through modern horror and speculative forms.
