Each year, the Korean Cultural Centre UK (KCCUK) in partnership with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) produces its K-Music Showcase presenting exciting Korean bands in London before they embark upon the UK festival circuit.

This year, in 2017, for one night only, The Barberettes and Sultan of The Disco will perform for London audiences at The Borderline before taking their unique styles of doo-wop, pop and funk to The Great Escape in Brighton and Sound City in Liverpool.

Sultan of The Disco

Sultan of The Disco are an energetic band who deliver vintage sounds of Soul and Funk to contemporary audiences. When they played at several international festivals including Glastonbury (UK), Sumer Sonic (Japan), CMJ Music Marathon (US) and CMW (Canada), the audiences danced along with the band and made enthusiastic calls for encores. BBC reporter Mark Savage said that Sultan of The Disco were one of the best bands at Glastonbury 2014.

The Barberettes

The Barberettes are a girl group consisting of three female singers known for being “time-travelling girl group reproducing the sound of the 50s & 60s”. At the overwhelming request of fans abroad, the artists performed two separate concerts in Toronto, Canada as well as sell out shows at London’s K-Music Festival (2015) and Brighton’s Great Escape Festival (2016). Whilst in London, the artists also performed live on the BBC’s The One Show and BBC Radio London which brought them widespread recognition within the music industry.
