The Korean Cultural Centre UK (KCCUK) held a two-day special experience programme on Thursday, 12 June, and Friday, 13 June, utilising the "Korean Culture Box," a mobile museum created by the National Folk Museum of Korea. This event was designed to introduce Korean culture and history to the British public in an engaging manner, offering hands-on opportunities to experience traditional Korean culture. Participants took part in immersive activities, including coming-of-age ceremonies, traditional wedding experiences, and decorating eco-bags with traditional Korean patterns.

Director Seunghye Sun of the KCCUK remarked, “It is profoundly meaningful to present the National Folk Museum’s Culture Box in the UK. When people directly engage with Korean traditions, they become a vibrant part of contemporary culture. The joy of experiencing Korean culture firsthand in the UK marks the start of sharing Korean aesthetics with the world.”

The KCCUK’s "Korean Culture Box" experience programme, tailored for the British public, was divided into afternoon and evening sessions.

In the afternoon session, Soongwon Choi of the National Folk Museum of Korea, delivered a lecture on “Rites of Passage in Korean Life.” Participants then experienced key moments in Korean life through activities such as coming-of-age ceremonies and traditional weddings.

In the evening session, Eunmi Lee of the National Folk Museum of Korea, provided a detailed explanation of the significance and contents of the "Korean Culture Box." Under the guidance of instructor Jungye Nam from the museum, participants decorated eco-bags with beautiful Korean patterns, visually connecting with the richness of Korean heritage.

Through various events, the KCCUK continues to promote traditional Korean culture and history to the British public. Looking ahead, the KCCUK plans to deliver innovative programmes that engage UK audiences, fostering new perspectives and dialogues through Korean culture.
