The Korean Cultural Centre UK is proud to announce the launch of 'K-Film Academy,' an educational programme featuring Korean film screenings and film-related lectures, scheduled to commence from March 13th.

The newly introduced 'K-Film Academy' will curate Korean films under the theme of 'Film and Women.' Collaborating with the Korean Film Archive, the programme will spotlight films featuring leading actresses that represent Korean cinema, including Choi Eun-hee from "A Sister’s Garden" (1959), Yoon Jeong-hee from "A Splendid Outing" (1978), and Jeon Do-youn from "My Mother, the Mermaid" (2004).

Designed to foster in-depth discussions and research into Korean cinema, the programme will present curated film screenings every month, followed by discussions with the audience on the characters, events, and backgrounds depicted in the films. Additionally, a series of filmrelated lectures will be conducted to help audiences understand the cultural and educational values of Korean cinema.

In June, the KCCUK plans to collaborate with Birkbeck University to introduce a series of curated Korean documentary films. The aim is to cultivate future experts in Korean cinema by showcasing films curated by students and conducting lectures.

Furthermore, a special lecture on Korean documentary cinema, titled "Activism and Postactivism: Korean Documentary Cinema, 1981-2022," will be conducted in conjunction with the publication of Professor Kim Ji-hoon's latest book through Oxford University Press. The lecture will delve into the history and political-aesthetic trends of Korean documentary cinema since the 1980s, analyzing over 200 films to explore the aesthetics, politics, and institutional and technological changes in documentary production and distribution.
