The Korean Cultural Centre UK will present 10 'Korea Day' festivals in 2025 in collaboration with universities across the UK. This year, the festival will join the 'Korean Culture, Now!' campaign.

The 'Korea Day' festival is an event focused on the ‘Next Generation’, covering various topics including the Korean Wave (Hallyu), Korean culture, history, and cultural industries. This long-running festival introduces Korean culture to local communities in the UK.

The Director of KCCUK Dr. Seunghye Sun said: “The next generation are the protagonists of a new future. In the UK, the Korean Wave has transcended Korean culture to become a popular culture of the 21st century for the next generation, allowing them to enjoy various aspects of K-POP, dramas, Korean cuisine, and beauty in real-time through digital platforms. We aim to lead a new future of Korean aesthetics with the vibrancy of next-generation culture. The Korean Wave will contribute to the future of the next generation.”

This year, the festival will expand its collaboration with more cities, taking place at various universities including King's College London, the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, the University of Manchester, the University of Sheffield, the University of Liverpool, and the University of Leeds.

In February, the KCCUK supported a Korean cultural event at the Lunar New Year festival held at the Language Centre of King’s College London. In March, the University of Manchester will host the 'Korea Day' festival for the first time, and in April, the University of Sheffield and the University of Liverpool will continue to host the festival. The University of Manchester and the University of Sheffield will focus on traditional Korean culture and K-POP, while the University of Liverpool will focus its event theme on the Korean Wave industry.

In May and June, the 'Korea Day' festival will take place at the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and in London, inviting various speakers to present new discourses on Korean culture. In Edinburgh, the festival will be held in collaboration with the European Association for Korean Studies (AKSE) academic conference from 19 - 22 June 2025.

In October, the University of Leeds will host the 'Korea Day' festival to celebrate Hangeul Day, allowing participants to experience Hangeul and various aspects of Korean culture.
